Good Evening Sherwood Family:

Recently I received an email asking me to nominate a teacher that goes beyond the call of duty each and everyday. It was a difficult decision on which teacher to nominate but, I thought about the many hats Ms. Troutman wears for Sherwood School and beyond. She truly goes beyond the classroom to better the lives of our children as well as our staff members. Ms. Troutman is a math teacher, EGN Math Lead, mentor to our children, social committee member, retirement organizer, etc., etc. She never say's no when Ms. Easter and I ask her to do something and is constantly coming up with ideas and events to enhance the lives of our children or the staff. She is a team player and an exceptional human being. Below is the press release done by CPS and my nomination is attached. Congratulations again to our very own...MS. TROUTMAN!!! Welcome to our website.  I am proud and honored to be the principal of such an outstanding school.  Sherwood is located near the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago’s Englewood community.  We service over 400 children.  Our school philosophy is “Striving to become Life-Long Learners.”  Our motto is truly each and every staff members’ goal.

We offer a full curriculum of reading, math, science, social studies, writing, physical education,  art, computer science and library science.  We also offer a full range of athletics for both our boys and girls – volleyball, basketball, dance, etc.  

We have a rich after-school and before school program not only for our children, but for our parents as well.  Our programs are focused on reading, math, character education, ROTC, Girl Scouts and computer science.
